Paying for the ChatGPT API from Russia

Last updated:

How to top up the ChatGPT API balance from Russia, or how to buy access. Here are the available payment methods.

Why paying from Russia is hard

OpenAI's models are officially unavailable in Russia. Access limits can be worked around with a VPN or proxy, but payment stays the real problem: official billing usually declines Russian cards.

You could get a card in Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan, but that's a long and fiddly route. It's usually simpler to use a third-party API gateway that handles payment and the model connection.

ChatGPT API is exactly that gateway. You top up with crypto and get access to OpenAI models over the API without a foreign card.

How to pay for the ChatGPT API from Russia

1. Create an account

After sign-up your balance shows $0.25. Enough to check the key and connection before topping up.

2. Open the top-up section

In the dashboard pick a crypto. It also shows the available network, minimum amount and deposit address.

3. Check currency and network

The token name and network must match the dashboard. Don't use another network even if your wallet lets you.

4. Send the transfer

Send to the given address and wait for blockchain confirmations. Once credited it appears in your balance history.

What you get after paying

After topping up you get access to the GPT-5.6 models over an OpenAI-compatible API. Connect the model to your app, startup, IDE or AI agent.

No mandatory subscription or monthly fee. The balance is spent only on processed requests, and cost depends on input and output tokens. Rates and the formula are on the Pricing page.
